The Weekend....

Tax season is upon us in full swing.  I know this because the Superhero is spending lots and lots of time at the office.  He was at the office all day Saturday and after Church Sunday with one break to go up to the Bayou to check our rain gauge.  Seven and a half inches!  And it's not over.  Sigh.  More on the rain later because I am not through griping just yet.

Saturday I spent in the ER with my sister's MIL who had taken a fall.  My sister and family live about 100 miles away so I sat with Mary until they could get here.  If you've ever spent any time in an emergency room, you know it's a long and weary process with tests and lots of just waiting and waiting and waiting.  In case you think all the privacy laws are effective, spend a few hours in a small room with three equally small rooms nearby and lots of hallway conversations.  Mary was finally admitted and taken up to a room when I left.  She's doing o.k. but is still in the hospital.

While we were sitting in the E.R. I witnessed a daughter making a very difficult decision about her daddy who was extremely sick and it made me think.  When we were children, we didn't know about the extremely hard decisions our parents were making about their parents and now our own children probably don't think about the ones we are making about our parents and about the decisions they will certainly be faced with in years ahead.   I often think about the Matthew 6:34 verse which says.....

So don't worry about tomorrow.  For tomorrow will bring it's own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

When we're children we concentrate on today.  It's only as we face the different stages of life that we understand that we are facing things our parents faced in years past.  Just think if we knew from childhood what hard decisions we would be making in the future.......wow, that would put a dent in our childish thoughts!

Sunday, mama was really confused all day making for another hard day.   I sat with her a lot of the afternoon answering the same questions numerous times and my sister and I went over last night to try and make her feel more comfortable and less confused.  We turned on the Oscar's because she's always enjoyed watching and she started asking who the actors and actresses were and honestly, I finally had to say I didn't know either.....it's a whole new generation of stars.  I had only seen one of the movies and it just so happened to get Best Picture although I didn't watch long enough to see that award.  Mama's mind eased and we got a promise from the nurse to check on her often so we went home.  Thankfully, today was a better day for mama.

So back to the rain.....we really need rain or so I've heard so I'm sorry it makes me feel so bad and I know that in other parts of the country the weather is really wicked.  But, there is a lot of flooding and the rivers are rising.  Stay safe everyone.  I am glad to report that we don't have snow.  Whew!

I'd also like to say a big Happy Anniversary to my sister and her husband who are celebrating forty six years of wedded bliss.

"He who finds a wife finds a good thing......." Proverbs 18:22

Happy Anniversary!

It's Monday!  Have a great week all!

Moody blues.....

Do people just sense when you're in a bad mood and feeling down and almost out?

Even though this may not be so nice and I'm admitting it in advance, this was my experience in a retail store recently.

Mama needs a portable phone with speed dial and it would help to have large numbers.  I was in the mall and walked into R*dio S*ack to see if they carry such an animal and was greeted by a young girl who nicely asked if she could help me.  I explained that I need a phone with speed dial and she said "what's that?"  I began to explain what speed dial was and she stopped me to say she would show me the phone she thought I meant.  As she started telling me about the features, I stopped her and said it wouldn't work because it wasn't portable and did they have any portables......she said "Well, if you would let me finish explaining this one to you..."  I was not in the mood for young and snippy when I was already old and snippy.  They didn't have what I needed so I just said thank you and left.  Who trains these people???  Where has customer service  gone???

Whew......I'm sorry, I needed to vent.

But there has been so much going on lately.....property in jeopardy, possible affairs, snobbiness, changes in society, births, deaths.....and that's just on Downton Abbey!

Real life is much more interesting!  Seriously, if anybody is still checking, I'm back!  I missed you all and will be playing catch up on your blogs too.

The weather all over the country is frightening so I can't complain too much but I wish it would stop raining we've had a lot of rain the last few days.  Quite frankly, I'm ready for Spring which actually means summer here in Florida where we only have two seasons.

I don't have much to talk about that I should actually talk about, so let me just say I hope you all have a great weekend!

Physical Terrorist

That's what my brother calls PT.

During physical therapy yesterday, there was a man having some kind of horrible therapy on his shoulder.   Seriously, this therapist got his training at a torture camp.  I've never seen any sort of physical therapy like it......the man's arm was contorted in various positions and the moans and heavy breathing was hard to listen to as I was on the table next to him.  I quietly asked my therapist to make sure that therapist never worked with me....EVER.  His therapy ended before mine and as he got off the table, I couldn't resist asking if he was taking the baby home with him.  That's how he sounded, just like a woman in labor.  I was even doing the breathing for him.  Then he stretched and said.....

much better!

Friday Fragments.....

It's Thursday and I'm actually working on my Friday Fragments post.  Even though I have a thousand things I need to be doing, I took a break to jot things down before I forget them....
If you have an overload of bits and pieces of the week floating around, go on over to Mrs. 4444's (pronounced fours) place and join in the brain dump party!

That didn't work out so well!  It's now Friday afternoon and I'm just finishing up my post!  Oh, and I didn't do those thousand other things I needed to do either!

If you recall my answer to Question #18 on yesterdays "48 Questions", this relates to that....

I was sitting in bed watching the Superhero get ready for work and said this .....
If God shut the mouths of the lions for Daniel don't you think He can shut mine?.....The Superhero's reply?
Now, THAT would be a real miracle!

It made me smile.....and think....lucky for you that dimple is so cute or I'd have to smack you.  He's cute isn't he??

*****

I got to make copies of some precious photos this week....
This is my daddy's mama.....we called her Cmama

The house daddy's family lived in in Moultrie, GA.  I took a photo of this house when daddy took us by when we were leaving Moultrie after Cmama's funeral, but this is the old picture.  It hasn't changed much.  On the porch are Daddy's parents with some of their children.....daddy was the baby in this picture.

Old family photos are fascinating to me and I don't  ever tire of going through albums.

Last weekend I went to a great bridal shower in Pensacola at the Lee House Bed and Breakfast in the beautiful historical district.  If you are ever in the area and want to stay in a beautiful B & B, I would recommend the Lee House.

It was a beautiful shower and I got to spend the weekend with my sisters which was a treat.

*****

I'll leave you with this thought.  I have prayed daily for a long time for God to take care of a certain thing.....but I don't think I truly felt that He would....well yesterday He showed me that He shows up when our own plans fail. He is faithful when I am not!

Hebrews 11:1

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Fragments....

It's Friday and the day we can dump out all the stuff that's been rolling around in our brains all week but wasn't enough for a post.  Join in with Mrs. 4444 for Friday Fragments.

Can I just tell you that when you're watching the news and the reporter says that some whacko that did something horrible is elderly.....then adds in his 60's, it makes me feel like I need a cane?  Seriously?  I'm elderly?

*****

I'm reading this book written by my new friend Doreen.  Go over and visit her and buy the book. It's  one that you won't be able to put down and it'll pull at your heart!

*****

I started physical therapy for my knee and didn't get off to a great start.  When I made the appointment, they said be here one half hour before your appointment to fill out paperwork.  Dutifully, I walked in and in FIVE minutes had all the paperwork completed which left TWENTY FIVE minutes to wait for my appointment.  The therapist had me do a few exercises, printed them out for me, said we can ice your knee here or you can just ice it at home as she led me out to the desk to pay $145.00 for TWENTY minutes with the therapist, but an hour gone!  We have a huge deductible so I have to pay every time I go and for that price they'll be icing it there from now on!
But I don't like to complain.  HA.

*****
I think these two boys are every bit as expensive to take care of as the kids were.  They went to the vet this week and Jack.....black one..... has a skin condition and an ear infection.  Thankfully Mikey was well and just got his vaccinations.

I got to the desk to pay and saw all the medicines they had for Jack and said "how many thousands do I owe" and the nice lady at the desk replied oh, it's under $500.00.  Was that supposed to make me feel better?  Note to our children.......your inheritance is being spent so keep your jobs.  We were going to spend it all on vacations and stuff, but instead it's going to doctors and vets.  Fun times......break out the party hats.

*****

The Superhero and I were in the gun store to pick out a gun for little old me and they were showing us purses you can buy that have a place specifically designed for your gun.  They're very safe.......but just for the record I'm not shooting a gun through a purse I've paid good money for that's nice leather!  Anyhow, they have to order it because they can't keep guns in the store.  The gun makes and sellers probably want to kiss you know who right straight up on the lips.  (That's a southern phrase if you were wondering).  Since he started the gun control business, they can't manufacture guns as fast as the orders come in and are probably doing more business than they have ever done.

*****

That's enough brain dumping for this week.  I'm late as it is, so have a wonderful weekend!
