Tomorrow would be my daddy's 91st birthday. He died very suddenly and unexpectedly in 1996.
Yesterday, I was visiting with my mama when out of the blue, she said I had a nightmare last night. I said well tell me about it and I'll try to interpret it for you...the interpreting part was, of course, a joke.
Mama said I dreamed your daddy was here in the room and I ran to him and hugged him.
I answered, Mama, how could that be a nightmare and she replied.....when I woke up he wasn't here. Then she said....you don't think he was really here do you? I replied, no mama, daddy's in heaven.
Below is a picture of my parents on their honeymoon. They were married fifty three years when daddy died.

Mama misses daddy. So do we, but we know we will see him again.
I took the liberty of changing one word in these lyrics....
Say nighty-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While you're alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While you're alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Sweet post, Nancy. Love the pictures - I love the pix of my very young parents on their honeymoon. My MIL misses her sweetheart so much. I think they were married 62 years when he died at 92 a few years ago. She's 91 now and isn't quite sure why she's still hanging around this earth.
HI NANCY!!!
Oh I LOVE Posts like this, I bet your MOMMY and DADDY were fabulous, what great pics!!
Were you raised in Florida???
I forgot you asked me a question a while back and I never answered you!!
you asked how I keep my kitchen island all cleaned up and holiday decor on it, well, when we bought this house new, the option of making it an eating bar was never brought up, so there is NO where to eat here, because the edge does not hang over, however my neighbors does????
I have a nook in my kitchen it is about 5 feet by 5 feet, my kitchen office!!So that is where my purse goes and most other "junk"
my hubby has his own drawer for his junk!!!
Groceries lie on the floor til I put them away!!!!
So the island rarely gets used except for food when there are no decorations on it!!!HAHA
a few months out of the year!!!
Have a Blessed day
hugs,
jamie
Nancy, such a tender post. I think if you find true love you will forever love that one...and miss them daily when they are away. My Pop misses Mom so, so much. There is no one who could ever take her place.
I love it when my Mom or my Granny visit me in the night, in my dreams. I feel like they just wanted to maintain contact with me. I know that's not true, but it is comforting. I hope your Mom finds comfort and peace.
Oh loss is so hard! I'm so sorry your mama is missing him so. What hope of seeing him again!
brought tears to my eyes.
Happy Birthday to you Daddy and much love to your momma.
I had a similar dream in which I was with my dad and we hugged. It felt as though we had really been back together if just for a moment! ♥
I thought I had shed all the tears I could today, but that brought a few more. We all miss Daddy, but know he is in a better place!!!
That makes me so sad for your mom. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Your Mama sounds precious, God love her heart. And yours too :)
love old photos....a nice post for your Dad...
That post made me think of my grandparents. They are both gone now, but it was so hard for my Mimi after Papa died. They were married 61 years. It's good your mom has you there to support her.
Such a sweet post about your Father. Love the pictures of him and your Mom on their honeymoon. I can well imagine that she felt like it was a nightmare to wake up and find that he wasn't really there but what comfort knowing she will see him again in due time. :o)
I truly belive that those who have gone on can communicate with us if we are open to it. Like in our dreams. I think your daddy did give your momma a hug. I cannot begin to imagine what that must be like, to lose a spouse. But I do beleive God grants us those opportunitues we just have to be intune.
I love that song. What a sweet post. I don't think that was a nightmare, it was a sweet memory.
Love the pictures.
There you go again with another wonderful and meaningful post. Just give me time, I'll try it!
So sweet, I have had those dreams of my Dad. Love waking with a smile on my face, happy I had the chance to see him.
Looking forward to eternity with him!
Hugs!
Awwwww...what a sweet post.
Hugs,
Kat
