Sad and Sunny

Some days are really sunny

And some days are really sad.

It's a good thing that they...oh, wait, they do come together sometimes don't they?  During sad moments sometimes something sunny will come along to lift your spirits.

Sometimes it's hard to hide....

Nehemiah 2:2
And the king said to me, "Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick?"  This is nothing but sadness of the heart.

Sometimes it's easier to put on a happy face.  Especially if you have SOMEONE to lean on.

Psalm 98:4

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth into joyous song and sing praises!

Hope your day is sunny today.

Gone to the dogs!

In case you're wondering, yes, these two rule the roost.

But man they are high maintenance!

Last week, Jack who is on the left went to the vet with what turned out to be a pulled muscle in his neck, so he's been on medicine for a week.

This morning I walked into the kitchen and poor Mikey, right, was spread eagle on the tile floor and when I picked him up and set him down again, he couldn't walk and was obviously having a seizure.  I hurriedly went to brush my teeth and jump in the car with him to go to the vet.  He was scared and I was really scared.  He's had these before but this one seemed so severe.

I walk into the vet's office looking like a street woman and screaming emergency
and ask if they can possibly see Mikey.  Since he's seizing in front of them they said certainly.  So.....now he's on two seizure medications.

Tomorrow they both go to get their shots!  I may be looking for a loan real soon.  I think they go to the doctor more than our kids ever did.

Oh, yes, it has been a crazy week around here!
Some days it just feels like we're going to the dogs!

URGENT!

We have a new Doc in the Box in town.  I had to take a second look the first time I drove by....

This is exactly what the sign on the front of the building says.  I'm not kidding.....

URGENT CARE

PLASTIC SURGERY

&

SPA

GENERAL SURGERY

I am NOT kidding.....so one morning when I wake up and look in the mirror and see that it is a particularly bad face day, I can just run up to the Urgent Care and get fixed immediately!

Or.....maybe before bathing suit season, I can get a little urgent lipo!

But, I'm afraid this is what my friends might say!!!!

 Hmmmmm......just a thought.

Florida winter....

While it's true, we don't get this in Florida.....

If it gets below freezing and you let your sprinklers come on you get this.....

We get ice on our bushes!!!!  In just a couple of months there will be gorgeous azaleas on this bush....but for a day there were icicles!

We don't get to make snowmen or shovel driveways or scrape windshields, but for a few precious days, we get to wear sweaters!  With scarves!

Presently in Florida, at least where I live, we having showers of oak leaves after the rain and wind.  We don't shovel them but we do have to rake them......OR if you're lazy and I'm not naming any names...me....you can get your lawnmower out and go over your yard.  It doesn't work for the pool.  I'm not thinking about that right now!

In other exciting news, Hubby and I are both sick with the common cold...

Ever noticed that when it is YOU with the cold, it doesn't seem so common??

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I'm reading the Bible in 90 days with this group  and I'm keeping up which I had my doubts about at first!  I'm praying I can keep up and finish with the group!

Back in time......

I started blogging December of 2005.   Five years ago.

This was my very first blog.  As simple as it was, I think it took me days to figure out how to just get it to actually post.

AND, I will be the first to tell you that I'm still not very savvy at this stuff.  I can't make a button....I've tried......I can't go to the top and put all my info under tabs...I guess you'd call them tabs, and there is a number of other things I haven't learned.

This isn't a deep blog about anything really.  Sometimes, by accident something deep may come out or something serious, but that's not what my blog is about.  Let's just say it is random.  What started as a whim has turned into a vehicle for meeting new friends from literally all over the country and the world...and that's what has made it so rewarding!

Never really expecting anyone to read it, imagine my happy surprise when I began making friends.  I met people who had similar things going on in their lives, people who would pray for my particular problems and I would pray for theirs.  I think the blog world may be the biggest prayer chain ever.

You may or may not remember this post where I mentioned that some of my family members thought you were all perverts.  :)  That made me smile because I was thinking of how most of you are Christian women and I may or may not have said what if I'm the pervert???  If so, we all go to great lengths to hide our pervertedness! I sincerely hope that 's a real word.

I find I talk a lot about these.  I love pictures, so I post a lot of them and be sure I look at all of yours too! I love getting to know you and seeing pictures makes me feel I know you and your families!

Just a few through the years photos.  Very random photos.

Here I am with my sister, Debbie about 5 years ago.

The weight has changed in five years.

Hair styles have certainly changed

Really changed

Our lives have changed a lot

And yet stayed constant

Five years is a very small part of our lives, but I can honestly say these five years have been enhanced by meeting all of you and getting to know you and as a result getting to know myself better.  You have spiritually inspired me to dig deeper and know God better. You have inspired me to never give up on life's problems but to trust the Lord with them instead.

So thanks to you all!  I look forward to many years of reading about you and telling you about me!
It's going to be a great year!

The New Year......so far

Christmas and New Years are just nightmares memories now.  I must say that we had great and fun times and we had bad times and we had horrific times.  We're all still alive and kicking so I'm planning for the rest of the new year to be spectacular!

To start the year off, I've joined in the group at www.momstoolbox.com in reading the Bible in 90 days.  Quite a big challenge but there's lots of support and accountability and it's time.  I've probably read parts of every book, but never just straight through from Genesis to Revelation.  I'm on day five and I'm a day ahead!

One of the great benefits is that you have to take the time to sit and read and think about nothing else.   In other words, it forces me to be still for part of every day.  It's fascinating and I have now gone from the creation into the Exodus of God's people from Egypt.  There is so much between!  The fall of man, the first murder, God destroying the world by flood but preserving Noah and his family and every kind of animals by their kind to repopulate the earth.  God's call to Abraham and his complete trust in God's promises even though at times fear drove him in the wrong direction.

Isaac, the child promised to Abraham and Sarah, born to them in their old age.  Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Esau.  The great love story of Jacob and Rachel and the tangled web woven by deceit and jealousy.
Jacob's twelve sons and how ten of them sold Joseph into slavery because of their own jealousy.  How God used what they meant for evil for good.

Joseph's adventures in Egypt and his eventual rise to the second in charge position right under Pharoah and how he was used to save many from years of famine, including his own family.  How they were reunited and moved to the best land in Egypt where they saw Joseph die and where they lived 430 years before God used Moses to take them out of slavery and away from Egypt.

Whew, that's just a small part of the exciting history of God's people.

I'm surely under no illusions that reading the Bible in 90 days will be easy.  I've read the tips from my dear friend Donnetta and am using them.  Now by telling you, I'll even be more accountable.

I'll be doing a lot of this for the next 85 days.

Join in, it's never too late to start!

Going backwards in time....

Before I move on to the new year, I need to finish the old!

While the grandchildren were here, Grandpa Russell took them target shooting.   They loved it...and of course he taught them gun safety!  Russell has been a hunter all his life while his little wife grew up in town and was scared of the woods for a long time.

Here's grandpa showing them how it's done.  Notice he set up two targets....one for Adam and one for Ashley and you better believe they were comparing their shots!

I know Grandpa, hold the gun awayyyyyy.

He's holding the gun down to load, not trying to shoot his foot.

Stand this way.

Aim carefully!

Showing Ashley how it's done.  Notice they wear ear gear.....shooting is not easy on the ears.  Russell had ear plugs in his ears.  He gave the kids the good ear thingies.

You mean this way?

That's our girl.....proud look on Grandpa's face!

Don't mess with her boys!

Now let's shoot the shotgun.  Adam had really been looking forward to this one.

Oh, yea, that's how the girls do it!

Adam was determined to hit the bulls eye more often than his sister!

Annie Oakley Ashley  preferred the handgun.

Their targets!  They went home with them in their suitcase.  They can show their friends what Florida girls and guys do.

It was a fun day for them just spending time with each other and Grandpa Russell.

Their Nana stayed at home.  I hope we made lots of happy memories while they were here.

We sure do miss all the grands!
