Then and Now.....

I was reading back through some of my old blog posts and realized something.....

I was much more open before I knew my family was reading. That doesn't mean I don't want my family to read my blog, it just makes me think more about what I'm writing.  I wonder if all great writers felt they needed to censor their words???

I recently read on another blog this quote....

Blog like nobody's reading.....

Well......who knows what I'll do in the future.  You'll just have to stay tuned!

Anyhow, reading old posts is very sentimental and brings back both good and not so good memories.

I can still do this....

I just did one the other night to be sure.

I started to do a "since then" post, but changed my mind.  I do that a lot....change my mind.

********************************************
So..... so much for then......let's move on to now...

.....just some really random stuff today as I'm feeling really random.

We are going to remodel our master bathroom.  We seriously are.....no, I mean it....o.k. well as soon as we can find tile we can agree on....and decide about the vanity and the mirror and the medicine cabinets and the light fixtures.....I think you get the picture.

We almost built a house together soon after we got married.  Thank goodness we thought twice and decided we were fine in our house.   Just remodeling puts a huge strain on us so building would probably send one of us to jail.  Just kidding.....sort of.

**********************************************
And while I'm at it....let me say I've been reading a lot about grammar lately and I'm just not going to start stressing over whether or not I'm ending a sentence with a preposition.  O.K?  Grammar Girl agrees with me so I feel good about my decision.  I have enough to stress about without adding grammar to the mix!

Whew!  Not that that's been on my mind or anything.

***********************************************

We had a very nice Valentine's Day......We don't usually do anything since it falls right in the fury of tax season and I'm determined not to be held hostage to H*llmark.......but I did send cards to my grandchildren this year and got a card for the superhero.

Someone whispered in his ear that Maybe His Baby Had the Blues......cause he came home early with flowers and cooked a wonderful meal!!!  Can't get any better than that....at least not on a G rated blog!

 Smile.

Here are the tulips he brought home and there he is slaving over the stove cooking dinner!  Isn't he cute!?

I took this picture with my camera on the tripod....AND I broke the tripod.  Whoops!
I thought it was a neat picture with Russell in the background.........going out to the outside refrigerator to get something else to cook!

Yes, yes, he is the best.  Now let's move on....

********************************************

A friend talked me into going to a painting class.  It turned out to be interesting and fun! So here are the steps we went through to get the final masterpiece product.

First, you paint your whole canvass the background color.......so that's me thinking can we move this along?

But as you can see, I was concentrating

My friend's canvass is on the right and mine is on the left in the almost done phase.

The finished Van Gohs.......I asked my husband which one he liked best and he said Sharon's!

My finished painting......and whether he likes it or not, it's hanging in the bathroom!

*******************************************

It was a very busy few days for my sister and her husband, moving his mother into the same assisted living facility where our mother lives.

My other sister and I and my brother and his wife helped as much as we could, but it is a big job and if you have never had the pleasure of taking someone's life of oh......50 plus years......and trying to make it fit into 500 square feet, you don't know what you're missing.

My sisters

The table is cleaned off!

Just a few things out of cabinets getting ready for the move

I sure wish I'd taken a picture of her apartment all fixed up.  It looks just like home!
We're all praying that Mary will soon be right at home in her new apartment.

**************************************

Speaking of cell phones and not being a techie........you may remember this post where I have a hard time explaining how things work to the younger generation or maybe they had a hard time explaining to me....

Well, the other night just as I hit end after finishing a conversation, my phone went dead.....d.e.a.d.  I mean it wouldn't light up, it wouldn't do anything.  Dead.  I plugged it into the charger.....nothing.

Here is the poor dead thing

Sooooo.......I get up the next morning and go straight to the cell phone store.....walk in and tell them the problem.  The cell phone store employee takes my dead phone over to a charger, plugs it in and it comes on and starts charging........just a dead battery.

That's enough for today!

I'm impressed that you can still do a handstand. I haven't tried one of those in years. Hmmmm.

Your painting class looks and sounds like fun. Are you going to be continuing on with the lessons?

What a sweetie you have - a chef and he brings flowers???? Perfect! It sounds like a great Valentine's day.

I have done one of those downsizing moves. They are no fun. I do hope she settles in and enjoys the company there.

Good luck in decision making for the new room!!!!

Wow, I'm impressed! But I would lie to see in person! I could only do them with my feet resting on a wall to steady me, it was quite the process to do.

Now I could and even still can do this: stand with my feet together, knees straight, bend from the waist and put the heel of my hands on the floor....

So that is not bending my knees, it is not just my fingertips on the floor, but the heel of my hands, by the wrists!

Enough bragging on myself... Love your blog, I'm going to make it a point to read it every week.

You and Russell are the cutesy couple, I wish you were at the stage or state where you would feel comfortable to come to Uganda with us in August. I think having all 8 of us there to share our experience would be such a blessing. We would be each others support for the things we'll see and do.

But I was where I think you are rip when Glenn went, so can empathize with you. As the days move on I'm even more excited to go. Will it be hard or me? I'm sure it will be, but I'm ready and open for the Lord to move me out of my comfort zone and out of my complacency and into the action He wants for me.

I love you and look forward to many more years of doing things together for His glory!

Wow....that was a good post...a terrible picture of your two favorite sisters!! I think Mike said the house was built in 1954, but don't quote me, as I seem to be upsetting folks tonight with things I think I know.
You do have a great husband and I have experienced some of his cooking first hand and very recently. Thanks again for that wonderful steak dinner, Russell.
Oh yeah, and I loved your painting!

Wow you can do a handstand - you go girl. Beautiful painting. And yes for awhile I think when someone you know reads your blog it is hard until you get used to it.

You and your guy are one cute couple. And, BTW, I think your painting is great and definitely it deserves to hang in a place of reverence, such as the bathroom...That said, I must confess that I am jealous that you can stand on your hands - I don't think I can do that. Perhaps one day I'll give it a try but only if someone is home to call 911 if I crash and burn.

I never ONCE was able to do a headstand - or anything near that. Even somersaults were beyond me!

Good randomness - my favorite thing in blogging. But now I can't remember what all I was going to comment on.

Sure do wish we could do some refreshing of rooms around here, but don't see that happening any time soon.

And yes, we've moved my MIL from a house into an apartment into an assistant living space. Not fun!

Valentine's - we had a cancel everything we had planned because of my sweetie's illness, which turned out to be a whole lot more than we ever dreamed.

Have a good Sunday!

Oh Sweetie...
I am so LOL. SO you can still do a hand stand. Oh my gosh, I am so proud of you. If I tried that, I would either go right on through the wall into the bathroom, or fall down and break and arm and a leg. That is my luck. I am so proud of you. You go girl.

How wonderful to have dinner cooked for you and flowers to? WOW, what a sweetie.

Love, love that beautiful sunflower. How fun to take a painting class. I love it. I have always wanted to learn, but never seem to find the time.

I can't wait to see the remodeling that you are going to do. Fun fun.

Have a beautiful week sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Wow, what a full post! Good for you.

Great job with the handstand and your painting. Love it.

I know what you mean about altering what you write about sometimes because family is reading. sigh

I feel your pain about techie things...I think they make those things to misfire on purpose just to get a laugh off us older folks!
Your hubby is a keeper, for sure! Beautiful tulips and beautiful pic of you...not the headstand one, the other one..although I am pretty impressed.
Hey, we are trying to buy some property in your lovely city. Thought we had 2 lots bought in Laguna Beach, but it didn't work out. But, we like that area and are looking for a double lot around there. We want to put a double wide on it. I am chomping at the bit to have a home there!...so, we may be neighbors soon!

Love your beautiful painting. I learned long ago that there are no craft police, or painting police, either. So, if you like it, that's is all that matters! And, I like it too...do another!

Loved this post!
