The boyfriend

I've never done this before, but I'm linking yesterday's post to Friday Fragments today just because I want to......also because I have such a crazy day ahead that I don't have time to do a new post.  Anyway, the rest of you honest posters, go on over to Mrs. 4444's and visit.  You'll be glad you did!

Dear granddaughter..... If you read this, you might want to strangle me.....but someday you will understand completely!  I love you,
Nana
**************

I just heard that my grandaughter has a boyfriend......which is perfectly acceptable.....she's old enough and all that stuff.  BUT,  what if I don't like him???  It's hard being so far away.  I need to meet him and let him know what I expect from my granddaughter's boyfriend.  (I'll get to the grandsons later)

Like absolutely NO kissing!  Hugging is more than likely out too, and I'll get back to you about handholding.

Ok, you just wait until it's your granddaughter!  Remember, I only had boys so nothing has prepared me for what happens in a girl's life.

All I know is this, he may see her like this....

But I see her like this....

And this.....

And this.....

Be careful with her heart, it's all entwined in mine.

I feel this way.....

"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer with joy.......It is right for me to feel this way about you, because I hold you in my heart"  Phillippians 1.....(taken from two verses)

That is the coolest post. I may have to steal the idea a few years down the road. So true how in our heart and minds they remain small.
Thanks for the sweet share!

Hugs!

I admit… I cried… You are so sweet! I'm sure your granddaughter will think so too!

I too only have boys. Luckily they were raised to treat a woman well. I can only hope that if they have daughters, that their boyfriends will treat them the same way.

Oh my ... I hadn't thought about boyfriends! My granddaughters are 8 and 3 ... and I'll be ready for them to think about a boyfriend in another 25 years, I think. ;-)

Visiting from Friday Fragments today. I had to smile because my mom is visiting my daughter this week and my daughter said first question she asked was about the boyfriend : )

I'm a mom of daughters but the boyfriend thing is still hard!

Dear Nancy, I so appreciate the idea of holding a person's being in our heart. And I bet that your grand daughter loves you dearly. Peace.

The boyfriend stage IS a scary stage.

I feel blessed that both my girls have found WONDERFUL husbands that cherish and love them. However, daughter #1 had to go through a very painful and ugly marriage first.

Oh my goodness - I know exactly what you mean.

Make sure he loves you as much as grandma does!

My heart goes out to you; being far from your granddaughter--The thought of that makes me want to work harder to make sure I've retired by the time my kids have families. (no way)

I suspect your granddaughter would love this post and the love that inspired it.

Absolutely true. I have two granddaughters and I cherish them so. But the boy who dates the littlest one better be careful. Her dad will be riding beside them on his bike.

I have had very similar conversations with a few single dads who have daughters... the whole dating and meeting a woman's father and realizing that they are thinking thoughts about this guy's daughter that they would kill anyone for thinking about there own!

Heehee :)
My oldest son is almost 19 and just now has his first girlfriend...we are in new territory and it is sorta fun!
Taking it ever so slowly and having no expectations!

Oh she is such a doll! And I love how you laid this out - how he might see her and how you do - I'm glad I only have a son, daughter in law and a granddoggy (ho)!
