Catching up

We are getting ready for Christmas here in warm and sunny Florida!  I will be returning some sweaters I ordered recently as I don't think I'll be needing them this winter unless things take a turn soon.

Now......I thought I'd post a few pictures of our Christmas decorations.  I think they may be exactly like every other year, and not as elegant as some I've seen, but here goes!

My tree is a little crooked, but that's o.k. so are we!  I thought about doing something different to the top of the tree this year, but that little angel is special to me, so she stays.  I bought that angel at W*lgreens many years ago when I was divorced and living in my little townhouse.....she was on clearance and laying there on the rack all alone like me.  I brought her home and can't just cast her aside now that I'm not lonely!  If you click on the tree, you can see the little Mexican bell near the top that I've had for about 38 years, given to me by a dear lady I worked for after she took a mission trip.  I cherish that bell.  Almost everything on my tree is sentimental.

The mantle......I probably should have taken down the picture that hangs there, but I didn't, so there you go.....my MIL has given us a santa each year for the past several years and they go different places each season.  Ah, the stockings....well this year, I'm sending everyone who lives away from home their stockings.  I no longer have room for them all on my mantle and I've run out of ideas for stocking stuffers.  So, I'm only hanging Russell's stocking and my stocking for now.  Maybe the kids who live here will find theirs hung on Christmas morn....who knows?  The Mary, Joseph and baby is something I made during my ceramics phase (I've been through just about all the domestic phases now) and I truly love this piece.  I did one for my mama and I may have done some others.

On my coffee table, I like to have the nativity so it's the center of the room.  Keeps us grounded in the true meaning of Christmas.  The little frames have pictures of us and our kids in different Christmas years.  More santas and my kneeling santa music box.

I now have two ornament trees that hold the ornaments I give myself the Superhero every year for our anniversary.  There are eighteen now....the first year we dated, I gave him a different ornament but each year after that I got these snowflake ornaments.  I love the way they sparkle in the light.

This table is normally in my living room, but has to be moved to make room for the Christmas tree....I like the Happy Birthday Jesus plate a lot!

I have a few more things out, but that's basically it for this year!  You may have noticed that the tree has no gifts!  I need to get busy but I feel like I'm spinning my wheels most days.  There is actually one gift there and it's from the Superhero to me!  I know what it is, and it's sweet, but we have an agreement NO GIFTS.....and I'm sticking to it because I cannot think of ONE thing to get for the poor old Superhero.  Suggestions would be accepted gratefully!  Oh, nice, this morning there is another one for me from the Superhero.  He is giving me a Super headache!  I have no idea what this one is....I asked him how he knows what to get for me and he answered.....wait for it....."I listen".....well, I don't, so he doesn't have a present.

Well, that's all from here.....hope you all have a good day.....I must get busy with Christmas cards!  Oh, stealing an idea from another friend.....I exchange cards with a few fellow bloggers and if you would like to exchange cards, send me your address to nancygraycejinks@gmail.com and I think that would be fun!

Almost every ornament on our tree has sentimental value, too. Makes the chore of hanging the ornaments on the tree less of a burden as I remember who gave me that ornament and when. ;-)

I'm sending you an email re: card exchange. ;-)

Oh, I forgot to mention that DH and I have a no-gift pact this year, but there are still a couple of gifts under the tree from me to him. Ok, one box is a new pair of walking shoes and the other is some new socks for his new walking shoes. Exciting, huh? But at least this way, he'll have something to open Christmas morning. ;-)
