Tax season is upon us in full swing. I know this because the Superhero is spending lots and lots of time at the office. He was at the office all day Saturday and after Church Sunday with one break to go up to the Bayou to check our rain gauge. Seven and a half inches! And it's not over. Sigh. More on the rain later because I am not through griping just yet.
Saturday I spent in the ER with my sister's MIL who had taken a fall. My sister and family live about 100 miles away so I sat with Mary until they could get here. If you've ever spent any time in an emergency room, you know it's a long and weary process with tests and lots of just waiting and waiting and waiting. In case you think all the privacy laws are effective, spend a few hours in a small room with three equally small rooms nearby and lots of hallway conversations. Mary was finally admitted and taken up to a room when I left. She's doing o.k. but is still in the hospital.
While we were sitting in the E.R. I witnessed a daughter making a very difficult decision about her daddy who was extremely sick and it made me think. When we were children, we didn't know about the extremely hard decisions our parents were making about their parents and now our own children probably don't think about the ones we are making about our parents and about the decisions they will certainly be faced with in years ahead. I often think about the Matthew 6:34 verse which says.....
When we're children we concentrate on today. It's only as we face the different stages of life that we understand that we are facing things our parents faced in years past. Just think if we knew from childhood what hard decisions we would be making in the future.......wow, that would put a dent in our childish thoughts!
Sunday, mama was really confused all day making for another hard day. I sat with her a lot of the afternoon answering the same questions numerous times and my sister and I went over last night to try and make her feel more comfortable and less confused. We turned on the Oscar's because she's always enjoyed watching and she started asking who the actors and actresses were and honestly, I finally had to say I didn't know either.....it's a whole new generation of stars. I had only seen one of the movies and it just so happened to get Best Picture although I didn't watch long enough to see that award. Mama's mind eased and we got a promise from the nurse to check on her often so we went home. Thankfully, today was a better day for mama.
So back to the rain.....we really need rain or so I've heard so I'm sorry it makes me feel so bad and I know that in other parts of the country the weather is really wicked. But, there is a lot of flooding and the rivers are rising. Stay safe everyone. I am glad to report that we don't have snow. Whew!
I'd also like to say a big Happy Anniversary to my sister and her husband who are celebrating forty six years of wedded bliss.

So don't worry about tomorrow. For tomorrow will bring it's own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
