Friday in the south.....

Oh, yea.....once again I am pretending to get a jump on Friday Fragments by starting this on Thursday......afternoon......when I should be fixing supper for the Superhero who worked all day and is mowing the grass.  Although to be fair, I pulled weeds this morning.

Friday Fragments is a place where we can dump small bits and pieces that don't make up a whole blog post.  Mrs. 4444 is taking a break for the summer and Unknown Mami is taking over Friday Fragments, so go on over and add yours to the bunch!

OK.....I may just need to play the lottery this weekend.  I won another give a way!  To say I'm shocked is mild.  Look for a post about this newest win later and also the millions I'll be winning playing the lottery.

I thought I'd call my fragments Friday in the South today because it's hot, hot, hot here.  I am not complaining because when it was cold, cold, cold I promised I wouldn't complain about the heat!  Promises!

I have been having such a great time with my grandson this week!  He's really growing into such a wonderful young man and I'm so proud of him.  He'll be a senior next school year which means I'll be going to a California graduation next spring.  Yay!!

He took this picture of me obviously biting my nail and thinking.....I guess those two things go together.  I had no idea he was taking this picture which in my opinion makes cell phone pictures dangerous!

Last week Mercy Uganda had a fund raising dinner.  My contribution to the dinner was peanut butter pie and I was there early to bring the pies and help stand around while more creative people decorated.  When the guests started arriving, one of my friends asked if I was aware I had on TWO DIFFERENT EARRINGS!  I turned and asked if anyone else had noticed this new trend I was trying to start and one of the ladies said yes!  I had worn these earrings all day and not one other person said a word, so thank you Betsy!

My niece had an article on her face book about diamonds.   According to this article diamonds should no longer be used to become engaged and that they really are a terrible investment.  Ahem.....I humbly disagree!  I do remember the Superhero once telling me that diamonds are a bad investment.  I just sweetly noted that they are a great investment in relationships.  I'm sorry, I'm a woman, I like diamonds!  So I say ignore that silly article!

Father's Day is this Sunday.
I would like to remember those children who are not in contact with their fathers for whatever reason.  All the commercials have got to be hard for them to watch.

Have a great weekend!

You trendsetter! ;-)

I'm with you on the diamonds. Who buys diamonds as investments? Except investments in relationships. ;-)

I am so glad that you are enjoying the visit with your grandson. A senior next year??? Wow. Haven't the years flown?

I suppose that you also have the humidity with that heat. That's what I don't like. I enjoy the heat, but not the humidity.

I agree with you on the diamonds...good investment or not!

Hi, I'm stopping by from Friday Fragments. It's my first time linking up.
I'm from southeastern GA, and you are right--it's Hot, Hot, Hot here in the south!
Wearing two different earrings? In today's crazy-fashion world, many people probably didn't think a thing of it! It's probably 'in style' in New York City :)

Yes diamonds are an investment in a relationship. No amount of money can replace that.

Dear Nancy, I've been away from reading and commenting on blogs for about three weeks now and so have missed your musing about life in the South and all you are doing. I've never tasted a peanut butter pie, but I'd sure be interested in the recipe. Do you slice bananas and put them on the top as the top crust???? I like peanut butter with all sorts of fruit: bananas, strawberries, apple slices, kiwis, and more.

I pretty much agree with your niece about diamonds, especially seeing that movie with DeCaprio. Diamond trading seems to me, unless it's really regulated, to be underhanded and tragic for many. But then maybe most diamond trading is now regulated. I don't know. Need to google that!!! Peace.

Cell phones are SO dangerous because of the ease to snap a picture... I must edit every picture of myself before it goes into the world :) haha! (not really true)

I keep trying not to complain about the heat myself remembering how much I hate the cold

That's a lot of fragments. :) We celebrate father's day by celebrating the men who are father like to the boys because they chose to be.

Because their actual father was not always the best example.

It works for us. :)

Funny picture - you look like you are thinking of how to rearrange something. My hubby runs far, far away when I get that look!
And didn't you know? Two different earrings IS a fashion statement. They even sell little cards with several mismatched pairs on them. So wear your mis-paired earrings proudly!
And to whomever says anyone shouldn't buy diamonds, I say "thbbbbbt!" (That's rasberries, but I'm not sure how to spell the sound.)
You probably have the hot heat with the humidity, while I have the hot heat like an oven. It's supposed to be 103 this weekend, but that's downright balmy compared to the 115 it was last weekend!
Have a great weekend!

Yeah, we went from pleasantly cool to beastly HOT, too. Phew. Diamonds may not be a girl's best friend, but they are beautiful. I say Happy Father's Day tho those who's daddy's have moved on to heaven! Good post.

That sneaky grandson!!!! Don't bite your nails - they will all stick to the inside of your stomach. That is what my Mother told me!
I have had peanut butter pie one time and it was so yummy. I have thought about it many times when I think about pie. Maybe you could share your recipe.
Mis-matched earrings. Not a biggie in light of some of the things I have seen lately.
So glad you are enjoying your grandson. :-)
