America, America.....

God shed His grace on thee...

and forgive us as we have left behind those things we know to be right, that are self-evident.

If my people who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.....2 Chronicles 7:14

Christians, let's pray!

Yesterday, at the retirement home, they were singing and at the end they sang patriotic songs.  To watch those elderly men and women struggle to stand during this song was truly inspiring and brought tears.  Even mama.....who cannot stand.....put her feet on the floor and tried until I put my hand on her arm, reminding her that since she can't stand, it's ok.

Oh, land that I love where have you gone and can we ever get back to where we once started?

Hope you all have a happy 4th!  It's raining here in sunny Florida, so all celebrations have been cancelled.

Dear Nancy, our don't know where you stand politically. I am very liberal and most often vote the Democratic ticket. But I've come to despair of a Congress in which both parties seem more interested in what's best for their parties rather than what's best for the American people--the voters who put them in office.

Today, we celebrate the founding of our country by great men of differing minds who somehow came together to forge a document that set forth our belief in freedom and liberty. The founding fathers didn't agree of a number of important things but they sought out what they did agree on and worked from there. Why can't the people we've elected to Congress do the same thing? Peace.

That really touched my heart. Those people really understand what it might be like to lose our freedom.

What a sweet post - straight from your heart and good questions to ponder. We have become lax in what matters. Praying for the people of God to pray.
Have a great day and just enjoy the rain.

Excellent, excellent post. I love the retirement home story - so poignant. I believe God is healing our land because we have been praying. It may not seem like it everywhere, but there are powerful pockets here and there. Nothing is impossible for Him, NOTHING.

I can't imagine watching the residents struggle to stand without shedding a few tears.

Indeed - let's pray! Regardless of what side of the political fence we are on, surely we all can agree that our country needs healing.

that is what is wrong today...people have lost their patriotic side....I bet it made your heart feel good to see the true love of our country through these wonderful folks...

Sorry it rained on the 4th, but glad you got to visit with your Mom and bear witness to the lovely sight you described...I say a hearty AMEN to your prayer. Christians are a mighty remnant and I know God hears our prayers, so we continue to pray for our great country.

It is amazing how the old still feel such pride in their country when many of the young seem to have no pride in anything

Great post as usual! Poor Mama...at least she knows she is supposed to standI. As you know my hubby can't stand either, but he always takes off his hat and puts hand over his heart! Sadly, a lot of folks don't do that anymore. All I can say on the state of our country is that we must keep praying that we can keep freedom ringing!!

Around a year ago we were at a concert and they asked the veterans to stand and it almost brought tears to my eyes to watch so many elderly men struggle to stand and yet do it with such pride.
