Happy Birthday to my son David! Today he is 31 years old. I am very blessed to have him as my son. He was the sweetest baby and toddler....still sweet to this day.
I hear he is on his way to our house to swim. Have a wonderful day child of mine!
I love you!

Mini camping trip ....day 2
Even though I can't put my pictures up until I get home, I have to blog about our trip or I'll forget! Honestly, I forget everything these days, unless it is something my husband says or does wrong! :) That's what he says anyway.
The weather hasn't been ideal here, but today it was a little, teeny bit cooler because it was very overcast. But people, there are a lot of people here in tents! Tents! No air...no air.....no air! I just couldn't do it, too old and too hot anyway!
Since it wasn't that pretty on the beach, I said why didn't we do what we do best? Go eat lunch and shop! We did! It was great!
We had lunch at the grill, a restaurant that says it has been there for 100 years. I believe it because Apalachicola is a very old town.
I found out today that the man I am truly in love with lived in Apalachicola. Seriously, I love him, even though he is long gone. He invented the machine that makes ice! He also figured out a way to air condition a room by hanging a pot of ice from the ceiling and somehow hooking it into the chimney....o.k. we're getting into details now. All I care about it that he came up with air conditioning and ice.
On our way back, we stopped at the Island ice cream shop and I got ice cream called "tin roof".....it was vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered peanuts and fudge. It was great! My husband calls it rear end fertilizer! He's so cute.
We then went for a long bike ride. Really long. We rode by the Gulf and so when we could hear over our labored breathing, we heard the pounding of the waves on the shore....my favorite sound. The sound of the Gulf of Mexico will soothe a sore and aching heart and bring calmness to a tortured soul!
As I was listening to it today, I was thinking of the book of Job....Job was a man who was afflicted not for something he did, but because Satan was allowed to make him suffer. He never gave up his faith, but he did question God. God came to him in a whirlwind and asked if he (Job) knew who set the boundries for the sea and who told the waves how far they could go and no farther? Job 38:11
In other words, God set the shores that the waves crash on and He determined how far they could come and where they would stop.
Ever walked on the shore when the waves crash and come in and you run from the water and wondered why the waves stop where they do? God determined that. He asked a lot more of Job, but Job was quick to say, I didn't know what I was talking about, things too wonderful for me!
We often, in fact, most always, don't understand why the things that happen, happen. God has the only answer and when we stand in His presence, there will be no questions.
O.K. that's your sermon for the night! Husband is fixing supper (I made the salad) and we are almost ready to eat. Then, AHHHHHH, good sleep!
Seriously, pictures when we get home!!!

We're gone camping....
The thing I love most about going "camping" in the motorhome is that I had to go to the bathroom 3 times during the drive over to St. George Island and we didn't have to pull over!
We have gone to the beautiful St. George Island.....I will post pictures when I get home. But folks, it is HOT and HUMID! Two things I'm not crazy about.
We rode our bicycles down to the beach late this afternoon and the thunderclouds were just beautiful. We locked up our bikes and walked down to the beach, where huffing and puffing, I assured my husband that I was NOT walking down the beach because I would have to then walk back!
My dear husband suggested I get back to the gym.
If I go it will be kicking and screaming. I'm not saying I'm not going. I just don't want to.
Maybe tomorrow I can walk on the beach and prove I don't need any old gym!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 25th Anniversary to my sister and husband! I think the first thing he noticed about her was her long, long curly thick hair. Who wouldn't??? He has been her loving, doting husband all these years as well as a son and brother in our family!
They are off on a special anniversary trip without their son! :) Have fun, I love you both!

Pull up or Swimmie!
Long, long ago in a completely different timewarp, my babies wore cloth diapers with rubber pants on top to keep the leaks to a minimum....there was no such thing as velcro. We used diaper pins which were big safety pins with colored heads. We ran the sharp end through our hair so they would go through the cloth easier. When they started to potty train, they wore really thick under pants and at night we put the rubber pants on over the really thick under pants. That's just the way it was. We never dreamed of disposable anything. You guys have it a lot easier!!!!!
Once a month, DH and I work in our church nursery during the Sunday School hour. We have the sweetest children and they ALL love Mr. Russell! They could care less about me. He is kind of like the Pied Piper.
There is a cute set of twin girls who are 2 and in pull ups for potty training. They aren't identical, but for the life of me, I can't tell them apart, so when they come in I say one of their names and the one that looks up I figure is that twin! I know, I'm brilliant! By the way, that has NOTHING to do with this story, just sort of FYI.
I asked today if they needed to go potty and both wanted to go, so off we went. They both accomplished their task with pride. L's pull up was wet and I looked in her bag and could only see diapers. She was NOT having that, she decided she would just stay put on the potty if she couldn't have a pull up.....oh, what was I to do? Mr. Russell solved the problem by taking a closer look in their diaper bag and coming up triumphantly with a pull up which I promptly helped L put on along with her bloomers and out into the nursery we went to continue playing.
Our shift was over and we proceeded along to "big" church. After the service was over and we were on our way out, the twins dad came up and said did you know you put a swimmie on L instead of a pull up, to which I replied "a swim what?"
Swimmies hold some things, but liquid isn't one of them.......during the church service L had to go again and went......in her swimmie. It doesn't hold water. Oops!
We were informed we will be participating in a tutorial on the difference between pull ups and swimmies! Who KNEW!?

Welcome Friend.....
Go here to visit my friend's new blog...I'm so excited that she's joined the blogging family, especially since she'll be moving soon and she'll need to keep me updated on all her adventures!

Oh, here's Katie now with her sister Mary Grace and, oh, that's me with Ellie trying to give me a kiss! Another friend and I drove over to visit the girls today and had a good time. We missed their other sister Emily and hope to see her before too much more time passes.
I'll be expecting to see a regular post on Katie's new site!
