Is there a certain place in your home that is a place of quiet rest?
Mine is my bedroom and in the last several months I've felt the need for a refuge from the storms of life. You know just those general storms with occasional thunder and lightning thrown in.
For a long time, I've dreamed of having a chair in my bedroom to sit and read, pray, watch movies or just plain be. I finally got it! I'm a reader and the chair is right by the windows so I get really good light which in my later years I seem to need! The best part is it is so comfortable and it's so pretty.
The table was Russell's grandfather's desk and is the perfect place for my books and anything else I throw there.
When the last of our children moved out, we I decided it was time for a new bedroom with a king size bed. The dogs needed more room.
After a test run with some furniture we just couldn't live with, we settled on this.......and by the way, we'll be moving that little picture and getting to the walls later!
This is Russell's dresser. Oddly enough, he needs more drawer space than I do, but I have the bigger closet. Wasn't he a smart man to build two big closets in our bedroom? He built the house before I even knew him, for a single father with two boys who said he had no intention of marrying again. Until he met me that is I had to do a few girly alterations when I came on scene!
The bed is huge! Remember this is the first time we've had a king size bed. The dogs don't have to shove us over now.
Oh, yes, and the night stands and we even got new lamps.
This is not the media stand we will end up with......it goes with the crappy other furniture and ours isn't in yet and you know we have to have t.v.
Here is my place of refuge, where is yours!? I really, really want to know!

My personal "nest" is a chair in the living room which is by a large window overlooking my small flower garden. I have a large footstool also and it's (chair) at a great angle to the tv with an adjustable light behind the chair. It looks "ok", but not beautiful, but it is totally functional for me...I LOVE your new furniture and I like the color on your walls. You've got a beautiful place to "be".
My refuge is the wooded area at the very back of my 2-acre property. It is peaceful and I enjoy the sounds of God's creation there.
Love your bedroom. I think I want a chair in my bedroom too! Thanks for sharing how much you like that. My bedroom is my place of refuge too.
I love, love, love my bed and bedroom too! Just spend an hour reading the paper in that wonderful space. I love what you did to your room, lovely!
Love the chair....love the room color !
hugs
That's so funny - Alpha Hubby said the same thing, that he'd never marry again! Love your beautiful furniture. I have my grandfather's library table which is similar to yours. I'm utilizing it as a computer desk right now - it's neat to know the history behind it! My refuge... I love the living room since we're only in it on weekends and it's so quiet and peaceful. I also love the new deck in the mornings when it's cool enough to sit out there. Once the remodel is done, it will be my new office - all mine, mine, mine!
Mine is when I can be all alone, sitting by the pool, reading a book. I love the new furniture.
what a great place...
your room looks very soothing - a nice sanctuary to read and chill. I've yet to find a spot - other than in front of the computer which is just plain sad :D
LOVE your furniture!
Mine is anywhere that a margarita is within arms reach. Especially after ol' girl is asleep for the night :)
Katie, I have the perfect place, but don't like margarita's (sp?) ......I could put a nice glass of wine there though!!
The room looks wonderful and I'm so glad you got your chair and the king size bed. Everyone needs a place to go for peace and quiet. I actually have the room off the master bedroom which was designed as an exercise room. I have my desk, a couch and a chair plus a 50" TV. I live here almost all day long. There is also a piece of exercise equipment that collects dust!
