I absolutely have to finish this post today! I've been working on it a little bit every couple of days. So here it is, ready or not!
Having the grandchildren for almost a month gives us time to do so much more! Of course, they would like to stay in the pool 24/7, but occasionally I drag them out to do something else or see someone!
On the third, we went to see Transformers II. Oh, my it is a three hour movie! Three hours! Of course, you'll have to remember that it is a rarity for me to go to a movie theater for two reasons. One, man they are expensive! But the main reason is that I like to watch a movie when I'm in my comfortable bed with the pause button readily at hand so I can stop anytime and then come back and watch some more! I usually make a list (do NOT tell my husband because he's always saying I should make a list, but of important stuff) of the movies that are out in the theaters that look interesting to me. Then when they come out on DVD, I remember to rent them.
The movie was actually not too bad if you like that kind of thing....I only slept through about 30 minutes of it but it WAS a three hour movie! It was interesting to read in our local paper that aboy man who graduated from a local high school was in the movie.
Coming in, they saw this poster.
After the movie, I took them to their great grandmother's where they spent the night and watched the parade the next morning. The parade is always fun to watch at her house as she lives right on the parade route. They just set up chairs and when it's over, they just take them back in the house! Very convenient.
After the parade, their Uncle David brought them back to our house loaded down with parade paraphernalia. They showered and got ready for the next leg of our 4th of July journey.
Then it was off to my brother's where part of the family was gathered. We try to make sure they see and visit with all of their "Florida family" while they're here, which is no small task! We are a big family.
Lois, my sister in law, is always such a gracious hostess.....here she is showing David the snack foods.
Ashley with her Aunt Debbie, my sister.
Every body gets plenty to eat on the 4th. From left, my sister Debbie, nephew Andy and soon to be niece, Wyndi.
Debbie and Tommy somehow convinced mama to come out for the family affair. She was a little uncomfortable, but did fine. It just wears her out to get out these days.

My nephew, Joshua, who later came home with Adam and spent the nite. He has a bum knee as a result of recently being hit by a truck! That's a whole nother story!
Then it was home to swim a little bit, then to our next step.....Mema's house for grilling and fireworks. Mema always sets a beautiful table for the 4th!
Broke out the telescope and watched the boats at Shell Island. With that telescope, you can see everything and everyone! It is always fun being peeping patriots! Matt, Adam and David were taking turns people watching.
Mema and Adam.
My monkeys decided to climb the oaks which of course I thought was dangerous.
Ashley was loving it until she realized she might just be a little high up in that tree! Those are the beautiful oaks that are found throughout our town.
She's saying do you think it's too high for me to jump? Her nana is screaming hysterically saying yes! While her Uncle David is saying, just jump, I'll catch you.
He didn't. If you click on the picture below, you'll see she's falling and Uncle David isn't in place for the catch! See, I was right! Why oh why won't anybody listen to me?????
She's not hurt, just scraped up a little and I'm sure shaken up a LOT, but she won't admit that!
Uncle Hugh came to greet the kids while it was still daylight. He goes to bed about 6 p.m. and listens to the radio. Then he gets up about 3 or 4 a.m. and puts everyone's papers at their front door. So that old saying, Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise is true! Well, healthy and wise anyway!
And finally, here we are waiting for the fireworks to start. They were really beautiful, but my little point and shoot camera didn't get any good pictures.

Oh, what a busy day! I can't believe you caught her falling from that tree! My camera would have missed[- it. I'm glad she's okay - but what happened to her safety net??
Her safety nets (Uncle David and Adam) both seemed to miss!

I think your day sounds perfect from start to finish! And how nice that you plan for them to be able to visit with all the rest of the family while they are here. I know they are going to have so much to talk about when they get back home. And, these are the thing they will remember when they have children of their own and are planning what to do on July 4th.
Love the telescope!!! Way to spy!
It looks and sounds as though you have really enjoyed having the grands there. I'm sure these are memories that will last a lifetime.
It is amazing that you got such a great action shot of the fall from the tree. YIKES!!! I'm glad she was fine afterwards.
Hello Nancy..thanks for stopping by my blog!! I loved reading you profile because you sound a lot like me. I think that laughing is a MUCH better way to go than crying!! I am a laugher for sure!! Smile!
I loved your post. You also have beautiful grands!! Ours are getting up there..20-8 now..all 7 of them. Come back again. I would love to keep coming here..
